Leather Care
The Car Wash Guys are fully trained in the proper cleaning and protection of leather seats and upholstery.
Leather is one of the strongest upholstery materials there is and if looked after correctly will last a long time. Taking time to clean and protect your leather will maximise its life and will keep it looking good for many years.
Cleaning is an essential part of caring for your leather whether in your car or your home. It not only removes dirt and oils (Which can, over time, break down the leathers protective coating) but will also help to maintain the condition and moisture balance in the Leather. This is important for keeping the leather supple and makes it less likely to absorb spillages.
Dirt and body oils that are allowed to remain on the leather surface for prolonged periods are the main cause of damage to leather and dye transfer is of particular concern to owners of pale and cream interiors. The best way to ensure your leather remains in the best condition is to ensure that it remains clean.
Leather Cleaning
We use only the best products on the market today for the cleaning of your leather interior our products do not harm the finish on the leather but give a thorough deep clean.
This enhances the look of the leather by removing dirt and oils from the leathers finish and maintains the condition and moisture balance in the leather.
Leather Protection
After cleaning the leather it is very important that the leather finish is protected by using a leather protector as this will help inhibit the absorption of dirt and oils and make the leather easier to maintain after the clean.
Also with protection Dye Transfer can be avoided with the use of our Leather Protector. So any dye transfer can easily be removed by using one of our specialist cleaners.
Dealing With Problems
Attend to all spills immediately
- For Liquids blot carefully and only wipe or rub towards the centre of the spill to avoid further spreading.
- Solids need to removed first with a blunt knife or spatula before using any cleaning fluids
- Ink of any type is a serious problem on leather. Immediate action is required with the correct products
Items such as nail varnish remover, paint remover, kitchen or bathroom cleaner etc all have the potential to seriously damage the leather finish making further repair more difficult or impossible.
Other cleaning products such as Baby wipes , washing up liquid, furniture polish, saddle soap, products that contain waxes/oils are not designed for leather and can do serious damage.
If you have a spillage or are unsure on how to deal with it then please contact me in the 1st instance to enable me advise or attend to fix the problem.
Dye Transfer
Dye transfer can be avoided by the use of our protector but if you do have a case of dye transfer it should be removable with our maxi cleaner. If this is not successful it then becomes a technical job which will require the use of stronger products which may then involve recolouring and refinishing.
